Have an open API key, installed it once and it worked great, in 2024. Came back to the game to run an API key and now, nothing, always day dreaming. Also used a new, funded key.
Does it only work with certain models? Also is their a guide incase I did it wrong?
Hi FluffyPants-senpai! AI2U runs on default models, but the itch.io version exclusively supports OpenAI API key integration as an alternative for players preferring their own keys. Players using their own keys are responsible for managing their keys’ usage, payments, etc. and may need to reach out to OpenAI Support directly.
In case your issue is occurring in AI2U despite using a valid OpenAI API key, please email support@alterstaff.io with more info and we’ll look into it!

How long does support usually take? I emailed on Sunday (and did not expect a Sunday response), now its early Wednesday morning and I still don't have a response?

I love the idea of this game, but I want to be able to play it completely offline. My graphics card should be good enough to handle this were the game to support it.
This would also give me significantly more customization options over the LLM, making for more interesting characters and gameplay too.

At the moment, we have Gemini as our built-in default model for seamless AI-player interactions, and itch.io players can integrate their OpenAI API keys if they prefer. We'll consider local LLMs and additional AI integrations if our dev tests show them playing nicely with our updates and content rollouts! 💖🔪

Sadly, as soon as you are talking about hosted LLM's there is no real way to do something free at scale.

Glad the level's working. Just wanted to point out a bug I've noticed. I think the patch broke the phonebooth, the girls appear locked (even though you can still interact with them) and you can't exit out without shutting the game off. Starting a chat is a partial fix, but permanently blurs your screen.
Hello, developers of this fantastic game, I encountered a problem with your game today and I'm disappointed. When I enter any of the three doors, the screen goes black with only the cursor visible. It's the itch.io version. I hope you can provide a solution.

Is there a difference buy from here and from steam?

The main difference is that if steam went offline rn, if you download it off itch, the game is yours to keep forever. Steam is great don't get me wrong, but if you can download like the official .exe file I would do it that way and move it to steam. Remember steam doesn't give you the official .exe of the game so if steam went offline EVERY SINGLE game you have ever paid off steam is lost forever.
I wish I could say you are wrong. But:
1, Steam *has* a "kill-steam" switch, and it's tested, and works. Valve is capable of removing all dependencies on the steam webservice itself, so if it does go out of business or otherwise die, your launcher will still work. This is good.
2, But this only applies if you are able to run the *current* version. If, for example, you had an older mac, and you explicitly purchased games that would run on your older mac, then you might find that steam forced an update to a newer version *of the steam client* that won't run on your system, and suddenly you are unable to launch the games you purchased on the older system.
3, And that has already happened to windows -- you have to run the yucky win11 to run steam and launch programs, even if you purchased them for your older XP system. Ugh.
Yes, I go for Humble, or GoG, or Itch, or ... anything else if there is a choice.

Whenever I try to hold V for voice input it does nothing? I checked my mac settings and the voice input works fine, however does not work during the game. How do I fix it I just started playing this game
Not sure if this is a feature or a bug (I think it's a feature), but I was able to get the witch to give me an ending-important item by asking her for it without solving the puzzle.

I have had similar experiences. Sometimes it fits that particular roleplay, otherwise it kinda happens at random when the AI thinks I wanted them to give me the item. I usually just "pretend" it didnt happen.
Hi does this game require a subscription to a chatbot service like chatGPT? Or is it able to run everything locally?
Thanks for asking! We removed a pesky token requirement last year, and since then, AI2U has been a one-time payment game. Players can launch the game and immediately start playing -- Gemini is our default generative AI for text while we use MiniMax and Azure for text-to-speech. While it doesn't run locally, no further payments are required, and itch.io players have the option to utilize their own OpenAI API keys if they prefer. 💖🔪

Sometimes when I load the game it is stuck on the loading screen, it only proceeds if I close and restart the program 1-2 times. Whenever I close the game, powershell opens as well as windows defender, it also opens my file explorer to my personal user file. Other than that, the game usually works fine until I either try to brew a potion or cook something in cat girl's apartment (The latter usually crashes the game, and the potion brewing freezes it) I don't think it's a software issue, I have an RTX 4060, 16 GB RAM, intel core i9, and I just recently updated my graphics drivers. Any advice?

Hi Don-senpai! You can unlock the chatbots in their respective channels after reacting to the message in the #chatbot-contract channel, which you can find after scrolling down "Channels & Roles" -> "Browse Channels"!
Reminder that chatbot interactions are community-facing within the channel and that they don't work in Discord DMs. Have fun and play nice! 🥰🔪

Purchased the game on MACos. cant get it to work. Its just on the AI2U with you to the end screen. It just says 0B/0B at the bottom right corner after I click the launcher.

Support for this game does not respond to any messages. AlterStaff said to resend the request because it was supposedly an oversight. Now, they read, because I had messages saying that they received my messages, but never returned a message: neither the first time, nor the second, and this, regardless of the emails (I sent to all emails, including AlterStaff's recommendation). The staff of this game is rolling their thumbs, so I do not recommend this game, because if there is the slightest problem, no response will be sent to you, even if you wait a month, including on their discord.
dude, it’s a 10 dollar game where you mess around with an AI. unless the AI is down, what support can you want?
let me see... : help suggestions, AI issue, including some outage, minor bugs, AI not saying its sentences completely, reinforcement learning configuration issue, etc... The only bug that I saw corrected was the group sending of TCP/IP packets where the download gave the illusion that the launcher was crashed: deleting the launcher resolved the problem.
