V.0.5.6 Patch Notes



We just speedran this patch for two very good reasons:

  • To finally introduce Russian and German localization (BIGGEST YANDERE SHOUT-OUT to our incredible volunteer translators!)
  • And of course, to squash all the bugs reported by Steam and itch.io players!

Our translators truly went above and beyond delivering thoughtful work much faster than we planned for–the love and knife-sharp-precision they brought into every line is so real! If you’re playing in Russian or German and catch any UI oddities, please report them as bugs so our dev team can handle them accordingly.

And speaking of bugs: Huge thanks to our forever-epic players for digging through the levels, the Atrium, and beta mods to help us polish things up. After 454+ days of bug hunts, you’re the reason AI2U reels like a home worth coming back to so you can vibe with your favorite NPCs and/or escape their wrath.

Read on for full patch details, including various bug fixes and improvements to remove friction from hugs.


Localization

  • Added full text and text-to-speech support for German and Russian.
  • Added localization support for future inbox messages.
  • Updated localizations to ensure NPCs tell item names correctly across all supported languages.

Gameplay Adjustment

  • To avoid clipping animations from mismatched character placement, NPCs won't initiate hugs on uneven ground (such as steep stairs).

  • Updated modded model texture display.

Level 1

  • Updated the lobby and stairway areas for enhanced ambience.

Level 2

  • Updated the Witch’s character model texture.
  • Adjusted item placements on the basement bookshelf.

Level 3

  • Updated the Hologram Assistant’s angry animation.

UI/UX

General

  • Updated the trust level emojis for all NPCs.

Level 2

  • Updated the UI for the necklace puzzle box.

Audio

Tutorial

  • Updated the blue parrot’s voice.

  • Updated sound effects in all levels.
  • Updated sound effects for common interactions.
  • Updated some UI sound effects.

Bugfixes

General

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to sit in a chair previously used by an NPC.
  • Fixed an issue where the input method would remain active while moving when typing in Chinese or Japanese.

The Atrium

  • Fixed an issue where the Witch and the Hologram Assistant would incorrectly use the Catgirl’s error dialogue instead of their own.
  • Fixed an issue where angered NPCs leaving during a hug in chat-only mode could softlock players in the hugging state.
  • Fixed an issue where the Catgirl occasionally had a different voice in chat-only mode.

Level 1

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Catgirl from attacking during the angry chasing sequence.

Level 2

  • Fixed an issue where the Witch’s model would sink into the carpet.
  • Fixed an issue where the Witch would sit in incorrect or awkward locations.
  • Fixed the Witch’s model clipping issue in ending animations.
  • Fixed a bug where the Witch’s eyebrows turned white after recovering from anger.
  • Removed invisible investigable objects in kitchen areas.
  • Fixed an issue where the "Escape Together" ending animation camera could sometimes clip into bushes.

Level 3

  • Fixed an issue where pressing Q while being chased by monsters caused the dialogue UI to appear on the ending summary page.

Mod

  • Fixed an issue where modded models were unable to attack in Level 1.
  • Fixed an issue where the mod feature did not function in Level 2.
  • Fixed an issue where modded models could not initiate hugs.
  • Fixed a bug that caused mirrored modded models to appear simultaneously in chat-only mode.

Known Issues

The following is on the dev's radar to address in future patches:

  • Mod: Ending animation voicelines do not play when using modded models.
